Ferrari F70 Enzo Replacement to Receive Twin-Turbo V8
New details have emerged about Ferrari's long-rumored Enzo replacement, the F70.
Expected to be smaller, lighter, and faster than the Enzo, the F70 will have a target weight of just 1,000kg (2,204 lbs) as previewed by the 'Mille Chile' (Italian for one thousand kilos) concept of 2007. This is roughly 366kg (807 lbs) less than the Enzo, which should pay huge dividends in terms of performance and handling. To ensure this incredible weight savings is possible, Ferrari will equip the F70 with carbon fiber body panels, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a race-oriented interior.
As we have previously reported, the F70 is expected to use a twin-turbo V8 engine (like the F40). The V8 will likely produce 660 bhp (485 kW), which is identical to the output created by the Enzo's 6.0-liter V12. Backed up by a lightweight chassis, the F70 should be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 230 mph. Despite the epic performance, the engine will be relatively fuel-efficient and offer reduced CO2 emissions.
Expected to cost 600,000 ($991,800 USD / 657,750), production will likely be limited to 399 units when it goes on "sale" (as usual, Ferrari will select who can buy the car) in 2012.
