However, there are some discrepancies. Normally we would just convert the power output numbers into PS, bhp and kW for you, but since Mercedes placed the 520 figure in its title, we had to point out that the numbers don't quite add up.
Unless our math is incorrect, by adding 60 hp or 60 PS to the C63 AMG's standard figures, you don't get 520. Last we checked the standard C63 AMG was rated at 457 PS / 451 bhp / 336 kW. Very often UK subsidiaries simply convert metric horsepower (PS), as reported by their German, French, Italian and Swedish parent company, into brake horsepower (bhp). The only problem with this practice is that PS and bhp are not measured the same (1 to 1). So, assumming Mercedes UK is actually using 60 PS and not 60 bhp, it still only adds up to 517 PS.
Anyway, the car is available in two varieties, with the saloon capable of sprinting to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, while the estate is 0.1 seconds slower. Both cars have an electronically-limited top speed of 301 km/h (187 mph). Since it is based on the AMG, the car includes the AMG Performance Pack Plus, with features like forged pistons, redesigned connecting rods, upgraded crankshaft, and stepped brakes with red calipers. The Saloon also gets a carbon fiber spoiler.
But still another discrepancie we spotted. The AMG Performance Pack Plus adds 30 PS, not 60 hp as stated in the press release. Therefore, the C-Class DR 520 is receiving an enhanced package which should then be called the AMG Performance Pack Plus, Plus or something to that effect.
Moving on, interior features include leather and Alcantara sport seats with contrasted stitching, with the materials also used on the dash and door panels. An AMG Performance steering wheel is also added.
The limited edition car will be held to just 20 units, all of which will be sold through Mercedes-Benz World in Brooklands, Surrey, England. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class DR 517 is available in either matte black or matte white, with titanium-accented alloy wheels, grille, and badging.
Adding the DR 517 designation to the car costs £9,995 over the C 63 AMG. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class DR 517 Saloon costs £62,430, while the Estate goes for £63,680, including taxes and fees.
