The Alfa 166 is the new top-of-the-range model which completes the ongoing renewal of the Alfa Romeo range.
4.72 meters long and 1.81 meters wide, the Alfa 166 has the prestige, comfort and accoutrements of a great segment E saloon, combined with the sporty temperament typical of all Alfa Romeo models. It has a flowing design that reveals harmonious forms and content. The solid, muscular line conveys the immediate impression of an authoritative, strong car anchored firmly to the road
The new model addresses the demanding motorist who appreciates sophisticated technology and expects enjoyable driving, safety and outstanding quality of life from his car.
There is a choice of five engines: one diesel (the 2.4 JTD delivering 136 bhp), and four petrol units (the 2.0 Twin Spark with 16 valves and 155 bhp, the 205 bhp 2.0 turbo V6, and the 2.5 and 3.0 V6 24 valves that deliver 190 and 226 bhp respectively). They all stand out for their excellent power output and torque and lead their class in superb performance, reliability and environmental compatibility
The 2.4 JTD, 2.0 turbo and 3.0 V6 are all equipped with a six-speed gearbox, with power sixth on the petrol engines. The two naturally aspirated V6 units are also available with an electronic automatic transmission, the innovative self-adaptive Sportronic which combines a sequential manual function with the ability to adapt to the driving style of the person at the wheel

The Alfa 166 exploits numerous other leading edge technologies to ensure absolutely pinpoint steering and complete control of the car in all driving conditions: dual wishbone suspension at the front and multilink suspension at the rear, a particularly sophisticated combination; active sensor ABS with electronic braking effort distribution; Anti Slip Regulation and Traction Control System for drive control. Plus airbags which sense the presence of a passenger, Xenon headlights and Sport Throttle Response which modifies the accelerator throttle valve opening to allow an even sportier driving style.
