Pe langa sistemul X-Drive (similar cu cel de pe X3) noul X5 va avea si o versiune 4.8is a carui putere inca nu a fost comunicata, dar va fi in jurul a 400 CP.

For 2004, BMW has decided to facelift the relatively
fresh X5. It's been a relatively short four years, but in that time the X5 has lead the top sport utilities for style, comfort, performance and driver excitement. But now, it joins the ranks of the 3-series of having gone under the pen of Chris Bangle for a restyling, and though many people will agree that this was unnecessary, it's all in the name of keeping modern. More importantly, aside from stylistic changes is a new all wheel drive system and several new motors.

Much like its newly announced little brother, the X3, the new X5 picks up some similar styling traits. It's clear that most of the general proportions, and the shape have been left in tact, but the face, side panels, fenders and rear end have all been reworked to massage in the new family face. Most obviously, on the front end, you'll find the double kidney grille that has been blown up in size, outlined with silver grates. They balloon over the narrowish new headlamps, which sport the 'angel eyes' dual beams.

A second air intake setup has been added on the front bumper guarded by two smallish projector beam fog lights. From the back, and sides, you'd be less likely to notice any change between the current and upcoming X5. It's true that the front and rear fenders have been beefed up adding a bit more of a bulge, but these are all relatively minor things. From the back, slightly reworked taillights are fitted to the tailgate. It's all finished off with a healthy dose of matte black trim around the bottom edges of the car.

BMW's new all wheel drive system, titled xDrive, which was first seen in the X3 has been applied to the updated X5. Originally, the X5 was set up with a barebones non-adjustable all wheel drive system. This differs greatly from the xDrive, which uses a clutch-disc, based system allowing for seamless and instant distribution of power between the front and rear axles. BMW have continued to work on the DSC Control system, increasing its range from not only the car, but to help keep trailers that the driver might be towing stable. Sensors on the chassis, hooked up to the onboard computer can help the driver work his or her way through twisty sections of road without any worry of an unstable or wobbly trailer.

Aside from the top of the line 4.6is, the normal X5 4.4i was known to be a very powerful vehicle. 282 horsepower brought up from the world-renouned 4.4 liter V8 engine from the 5-series and 7-series. Amazingly, BMW have found a way to increase power output of this seasoned engine by 34 horsepower. Featuring Double-Vanos and Valvetronic, the engine runs smoother, cleaner, and better. The 320 horsepower beast can run to 100 km/h in a recorded 7.0 seconds, and a top speed of 240 km/h with V-Rated tires. Power is distributed by a ZF six-speed automatic transmission.

On the other end of the spectrum, we see a revised 3.0 liter turbodiesel. It creates 218 horsepower, but a massive 370 ft-lb of torque! It manages to hit 100 km/h in a mere 8.3 seconds, while obtaining 8.6 l/100 km driven. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. We've left out the hot version of the X5 up until now. Come spring of next year, to compete with the updated ML55 AMG, BMW have decided to up the performance of the X5. Though we don't have any stats, it'll be called the X5 4.8is, and should be able to eat all performance sport utility vehicles for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect to see the new X5 at the Frankfurt IAA this September, and in showrooms in America this October.

Este normal ca fostul 4.6is nu s-a vandut la fel ca si celelalte variante 3.0 sau 4.4 deoarece era mult mai scump. Dar esec nu a fost, pentru ca altfel nu faceau un 4.8is.

Chris, uite aici:
X5 -> 4.4l -> 320 CP
FX -> 4.5l -> 315 CP

Iar 4.8is tot aspirat natural va fi

Iar eu am vrut sa-ti arat ca urmatorul X5 4.4i va avea mai multi cai decat acel FX45 dintr-un motor mai mic

Oameni buni aici vorbim de noul X5 care se pare a umblat in directia buna. Primul si cel mai bun lucru?? Cred ca Bangle era in concediu la ora faceliftului:laugh: Poate isi ia definitiv concediu. http://www.garajul.r...tyle_emoticons/default/drink.gif

Al doilea lucru bun este ca au modificat 4x4. Diferential central care variaza cuplul transmis catre punti, nu e ceva nou si nici spectaculos (pentru alte marci) insa e un pas inainte fata de ce prostie aveau inainte. Probabil acum X5 va reusi sa urce iarna catre Clabucet Sosire:laugh:

3.0d nou e alta chestie buna. 500 Nm , super cuplu.
Bine ca au bagat v8 cu Valvetronic.

Parti (tot) proaste? Nu au renuntat la 4.6 is (acum 4.8 is) care tot mult consuma, si nu prea poate. Cred ca motorul de la M5 era o solutie mai buna.

Marea dezamagire ( a mea)? Nu a aparut 4.0d

FX45 va avea mult de muncit pentru ca sa se tina de noul X5. Poate vor monta standard binoclu sa-i poata vedea tevile lui 4.8is

Si nu uita 4.8is va avea in jur de 400 CP -> asta implica cel mai rapid SUV aspirat
