According to a brief report by Dutch site telegraaf, Audi has filed trademarks for a vast range of new models that could join their line-up.
It suggests the brand are considering introducing a couple of new SUVs labeled the Q6 and Q8 while an exciting range of performance orientated models could be in the pipeline consisting of the R6, S2, S9, RS8 and RS1. Additionally, Audi has registered E-diesel, E-gasoline and gasoline-e which suggests further electric powertrain options are set to be offered in addition to the e-tron technology.
Speculation time
Audi's SUV line-up has long been speculated to to expand past the standard Q3, Q5 and Q7 models with additional options that could rival the BMW X6. The new patent registrations opens the door for the brand to produce sportier SUV coupe variants based on the Q5 and Q7 architectures.
The R6 would be reserved for a smaller sports car that could sit below the Audi R8, but it remains to be seen whether it would slot in above the TT model variants or just just simply replace them.
The RS8 is another model fans have hoped would be in the pipeline ever since the R8 was launched back in 2006. The RS1 meanwhile is potentially a production version of the A1 Clubsport Quattro Concept (pictured) that boasted 503 PS (370 kW / 496 bhp).
Audi are planning on reviving their A2 nameplate and they previewed the future in concept form at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. The report of an S2 patent confirms the series will also get a higher performance version as well.
Last but not least comes the S9, a name that suggests Audi are planning on introducing a new halo car to their brand.
