Nitschke hints at an M-tuned three-cylinder engine
BMW M GmbH boss Friedrich Nitschke has revealed the current generation M3 is effectively sold out.
Speaking to Car & Driver, Nitschke said the M3 Coupe and Convertible will remain in production for approximately six more months but all the cars are spoken for.
The executive also hinted that future engines will be closely related to BMW's units but they will continue to be "optimized for the specific needs of M customers."
Nitschke downplayed the possibility of all-wheel drive variants by suggesting they would be too much of a compromise because of the added weight and loss of steering precision. The executive also feels that anyone who wants a high-performance all-wheel drive BMW can just order an X5 M or an X6 M.
When asked about BMW's new three-cylinder engine, Nitschke sounded optimistic about offering a high-performance variant. As he explained, "The three-cylinder is an attractive engine. It is possible to reach around 185 to 200 horsepower (137- 149 kW) per liter in a forced-induction three-cylinder and we have 1.5 liters of displacement." This means the a M-tuned three-cylinder engine could have an output in excess of 310 HP (231 kW).

Volkswagen Chairman confirms 10-speed DSG, high-performance diesel engine
Volkswagen Chairman Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn has revealed some new details about the company's future product lineup.
Speaking at the Vienna Motor Symposium, Winterkorn confirmed the company is working on a high-performance diesel engine that will produce 136 HP (100 kW) per liter. The executive also acknowledged the development of a 10-speed dual-clutch transmission that will offer improved fuel efficiency.
There's no word on when they will arrive, but the executive also discussed plans to refine their petrol and diesel engines. As he explained, “Since the year 2000, we’ve reduced the fuel consumption of our TDI and TSI engines by more than 30 percent. I’m convinced that by 2020 we can achieve further increases in efficiency of around 15 percent."
Winterkorn also see natural gas engines playing a larger role in future products because the "technology is fully developed" and CNG vehicles are "environmentally friendly, economical and suitable for everyday use."
Lastly, the executive confirmed plans to "electrify all vehicle classes" to improve fuel efficiency. In the short term, Volkswagen will focus on plug-in hybrid technology. The Audi A3 e-tron and Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid will go on sale shortly and be followed by plug-in hybrid variants of the Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne.

Toate masinile au 8 roti: 2 in fata, 2 in spate, 2 in stinga si 2 in dreapta
PS - unele mai au si roata de rezerva

E ca si cum ai zice ca masina ta are 8 roti, daca le numeri si p-alea de iarna ....
Pai cum functioneaza de fapt? Eu aveam impresia ca, atunci cand ai reductorul cuplat, turatia motorului nu mai intra 1:1 in cutia de viteze ci cu un alt raport, fiind acelasi efect in final ca si cum ai avea 2 x 5 viteze .
PS: Mult simplificat, mi se pare ca ar fi ca la bicicleta, unde reductorul ar fi doua din cele trei foi, iar cutia de viteze, pinioanele.

Chiar daca le fac si "fiabile", mai trebuie totusi si fie si "drivable", ca o masina care se taraie agonizant pana pleaca de pe loc dupa care sapa transee cand atinge 4000 de ture este total inutila.
Mult mai buna mi s-ar fi parut o directie de cercetare pentru a gasi o solutie de reducere a consumului la motoarele mari, pentru ca orice s-ar zice, mult mai bine si mai usor se conduce asa ceva.
În democraţie, ai dreptul să-l alegi pe cel care o să te folosească aşa cum vrea el.

Facelift la Duster in toamna, la salon. In afara de plansa bord/consola centrala si mici modificari la interior, va avea si un nou look frontal, in linie cu Logan/Sandero.
