Fiat considering plant in Mexico


As the dollar weakens, European manufacturers continue to scramble for manufacturing opportunities offshore to salvage profits. Fiat is the latest to jump into the fray. Company sources are saying the Italian automaker is currently considering Mexico as a production site -- with their eyes on an existing plant that could be tooled up for 150,000 cars a year. With their Alfa Romeo brand launching in the United States next year, and Fiat sales up significantly in South America, a plant in centrally-located Mexico could easily supply demand for both markets. If approved, the Mexican plant would start building Alfa Romeos and Fiats in 2011.

Topolino, cel mai mic model Fiat, ar putea intra in showroom-uri in 2010

Fiat ar putea reinvia in doi ani numele Topolino, aducand pe piata un supermini de trei metri lungime care ar urma sa fie una dintre cele mai nepoluante masini de pe piata, cu emisii de sub 90 g/km, scrie revista britanica Auto Express care da o idee despre cum ar putea arata masina.

Fratiorul modelului 500 va concura cu modele precum Toyota iQ, Smart fortwo sau VW Up, masini gandite sa imbunatateasca media emisiilor de CO2 pentru fiecare producator, in vederea atingerii tintelor trasate de UE.

Masina va avea si elemente de platforma de la 500, insa, fiind foarte mic, va reprezenta o noua directie de design pentru Fiat. Masina va fi propulsata de un motor de 900 cc si va avea tractiune spate. Propulsorul a debutat toamna trecuta la salonul de la Frankfurt pe conceptul Panda Aria si va intra pe modelul 500 anul acesta, in variante de 105 si 65 CP. E de presupus ca Topolino va avea parte in special de propulsorul de 65 CP.

Noul Topolino va avea si sistemul stop - start care opreste automat motorul cand nu e nevoie de el in trafic, facilitate care va putea diminua emisiile de CO2 pana sub 90 g/km. Auto Express noteaza ca planurile Fiat in segmentul hibridelor s-ar putea materializa si la Topolino in emisii si mai scazute. Noul model ar putea avea un aranjament flexibil al scaunelor in stilul 3+1 de la conceptul Trepiuno care a dat primele indicii despre modelul 500 im 2004. Sistemul presupune existenta unui scaunel "ocazional" care se poate "impaturi" in spate.

Noul Topolino ar putea fi produs la uzina Zastava, in Serbia, mai ales ca italienii au semnat un memorandum de intelegere cu autoritatile de la Belgrad pentru preluarea uzinei si infiintarea unei companii mixte unde Fiat e majoritara. I

Fiat a produs modelul Topolino, "soricelul", in italiana, intre 1937 si 1955. Era una dintre cele mai mici masini din lume la acea data, putea atinge 85 km/h iar consumul era de 6 litri/100 km.

Ford scrie un cec pentru Tiriac ?

La doar cateva luni dupa ce a finalizat achizitia fabricii de la Craiova, Ford se afla in negocieri cu Ion Tiriac in vederea achizitiei Romcar, potrivit unor surse din piata auto. Mai exact, spun sursele citate, contractul va fi cel mai probabil semnat in urmatoarele trei luni, iar in termen de un an Ford va prelua complet activitatea de import, omul de afaceri urmand sa obtina din vanzarea importatorului aproximativ 10-11 milioane de euro.

Although we have yet to reach the midpoint of the well known leaked Audi roll out schedule 2012 document, so far it's been right on target. And now, this latest leaked information sent to us from Audiblog.nl lists the upcoming engine/model schedule with the production start and market launch dates. Audiblog.nl tells us the information came from an Audi Poland spreadsheet document and it is from a reliable source, however, we have not confirmed the authenticity of the information. So, take it or leave it - this information is for your enjoyment. Compared to the 2012 roll out schedule linked above, there are a few surprises.

Audi A1

In addition to the current 1.4 TFSI engines, the A1 will also receive a new 63kW (86hp) entry level 1.2-liter TFSI which is most likely based on the 70hp 1.2-liter engine that was recently shown in the new SEAT Ibiza at the Madrid Motor Show last week.

Audi S4 (B8)

The sports version of the current generation A4 will see the 4.2-liter V8 from the B7 generation get dropped, and instead, return to its B5 roots with the all new 245kW (333hp) 3.0-liter V6 bi-turbo TFSI. Available in Avant form as well as sedan, the S4 will be available in 6-speed manual transmission or double-clutch 7-speed S-tronic.

Audi S5

The Audi S5 coupe will keep its 4.2-liter V8 for now, but starting in September 2010 the bi-turbo 3.0-liter TFSI V6 as seen in the S4 will replace it. Despite the horsepower reduction from the V8's 260kW (354hp) versus the V6's 245kW (333hp), it's possible the weight savings as well as lower center of gravity of the smaller engine compensates for the reduction in output.

Audi RS5

We've already seen the RS5 acknowledged in the 2012 roll out schedule, but this document gives us a bit more. Using the same 4.2-liter V8 in the current S5, the RS5 gets a massive 70kW (96hp) bump from 260kW (354hp) to 331kW (450hp). Such an increase suggests some turbo charging shenanigans are going on, as previously speculated, however, only the 7-speed dual-clutch S-tronic transmission will be available. The RS5 hits market in July 2010.

Audi A5/S5 Sportback

The A5 Sportback will be available with 1.8 TFSI to the 3.2FSI for the petrol and 2.0 TDI to the 3.0 TDI for diesels plus all of their variants in between. However, completely unmentioned by the 2012 roll out schedule, is an S5 Sportback which receives the new 3.0-liter bi-turbo TFSI in either 6-speed manual or S-tronic7. September 2010 is the launch date.

Audi A7 Sportback

We have heard of the all new A7 model in coupe and cabriolet form, but this leaked document brings to our eyes for the first time the A7 Sportback. With only petrol and diesel V6 engines available from June 2010, a new 8 speed automatic transmission will be introduced on the 3.0-liter TDI model which launches in November 2010.

Audi S7 Sportback

Here's the blockbuster. The S7 Sportback breaks cover in November 2010, but it does not receive the 3.0-liter bi-turbo TFSI engine found in the future S4 and S5 models. Instead this baby gets an all new 4.0-liter TFSI producing 290 kW (394hp) with S-tronic7.

Audi A8 (D4)

The next generation A8 hits the market six months earlier than stated by the 2012 roll out schedule. Same V8 engines are retained and new 8 speed automatic transmission is added.

Audi R8 Spyder

Hoping for a debut at this past Detroit Auto Show, the R8 Targa or Spyder was absent. Instead we saw the R8 V12 TDI Concept debut. However, according to this leaked document the 5.2-liter V10, which was recently spotted with it's engine in view, will be available in both Coupe and Spyder variants making 386 kW (525hp). The R8 coupe launches in June 2009 and the Spyder in March 2010, both with the R-tronic sequential gearbox.

GERMANY: Winterkorn speaks out against Porsche

Volkswagen Group chief executive Martin Winterkorn has said that if Porsche interferes with the day-to-day running of Volkswagen, then Wendelin Wiedeking might as well take over as chief executive himself.

The comments are a further escalation in the power struggle between Volkswagen's largest shareholder and representatives of the Volkswagen Group, which are concerned that effective management control will move to the Porsche Holding company, when it acquires enough shares to take majority control of the company by the autumn. In the past the Volkswagen workers' representatives have had a major input into management decisions and their support has been crucial to shaping the direction of the company.

Winterkorn was angered by the fact that Porsche is now questioning Volkswagen's management strategy, a strategy that customers, dealers, the workforce, suppliers and shareholders, have faith in, he said.

"It would be a shame if this fact were not appreciated by our largest shareholder," he told the S�ddeutsche Zeitung today.

Winterkorn was responding to comments made last week by Wolfgang Porsche, head of the Porsche supervisory board. Porsche told Manager magazine there is a lot of work to do at Volkswagen and that "the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing".

He criticised the amount of competition between Volkswagen brands and said that Volkswagen should "look for competition outside the company, and not within its own company".

Porsche also criticised workers for demonstrating at the company's annual general meeting in April, saying they should go back to the assembly line and work.

In today's interview Winterkorn retorted: "We don't just send our workers to the production line - we value them more than that."

Speaking separately in a local German newspaper, Volkswagen works council chief, Bernd Osterloh said: "For me it is becoming increasingly clear - the Porsche leadership obviously didn't appreciate how a global company like Volkswagen works, and they still don't."

Spiegel magazine reported that Audi managers are fearful one of Porsche's first actions when it takes control will be to axe the Audi brand. Porsche recently criticised Audi for selling the R8 sports car and the Q7 SUV at too low a price.

"Will we have to raise the prices of our models, so that Porsche can compete better?" asked one Audi manager

Noua Lancia Delta se lanseaza luna aceasta in Europa, cu preturi de la 21.000 de euro

Lancia va lansa dupa jumatatea acestei luni in Europa noua generatie Delta, model care in anii 80' domina cursele de raliuri. Masina va costa intre 21.000 si 31.000 de euro, iar italienii spera ca va revitaliza marca si-i va dubla vanzarile in cativa ani, scrie Automotive News.

Delta, o combinatie intre sedan si station-wagon,e gandita sa duca vanzarile marcii italiene la 300.000 de unitati pe an in 2010, mai mult decat dublu fata de prezent. Lancia a vandut anul trecut 123.000 de masini, iar tinta pentru anul in curs este de 150.000. cat despre Delta, obiectivul de vanzari este de 20.000 de unitati anul acesta si 70.000 pe an, incepand cu 2009.

Numele Delta aminteste de modelul care facea legea in campionatele de raliuri acum doua decenii, insa noua Lancia mai are in comun doar numele, cu modelul din anii 80'. Pentru noua Delta, producatorul a cheltuit peste 300 milioane euro si a lucrat un an si trei luni la proiect. Masina e construita pe platforma lui Fiat Bravo si va concura cu modele precum Renault Laguna si Citroen C5.

Noua Delta are 4,5 metri lungime si va fi disponibila in trei versiuni de motorizare: doua pe benzina 1,4 litri 120 si 150 CP si un turbodiesel 1,6 litri 120 CP. Mai tarziu vor sosi si alte motorizari, printre care una pe benzina, de 200 CP.

Lancia e prezenta de la jumatatea lui 2005 si in Romania, adusa de Autoitalia. Anul trecut doar 32 de romani au cumparat masinile brand-ului, aproape 90% alegand modelul de clasa mica Ypsilon.

Gama Lancia contine modelele Ypsilon, Musa, Thesis si Phedra.

Nu e chiar asa. Ideea e ca ar trebui sa vina cu ceva deosebit pentru a fura din clientii altor modele. La capitolul motorizari - nu e cazul, renume (numele Delta e de obicei recunoscut doar in asociere cu Integrale :D, iar Lancia in sine nu cred sa atraga prea mult) iarasi nu prea este.

Masina insa nu arata rau ... si poate se va dovedi ca m'am inselat :)

Mahindra-Renault va produce un Logan de lux pentru indienii cu venituri mari

Mahindra-Renault va lansa, in luna iulie, o noua varianta de Logan, in editie limitata, destinata clientilor cu un buget ridicat, a declarat directorul Mahindra-Renault, Rajesh Jejurikar, ciatat de India Times.

"Editia speciala va fi gata in doua luni si va avea un sistem audio mai performant, scaune noi, tapiterie lucrata manual si interior modificat si se va adresa clientilor top-end", a spus Rajesh Jejurikar.

Marca Logan a fost lansata pe piata indiana in luna mai a anului trecut de un consortiu format din producatorul local de automobile Mahindra&Mahindra si compania franceza Renault, Principalele modele cu care concureaza Logan sunt Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Maruti Suzuki SX4 si gama Indigo de la Tata Motors.

Honda a inceput sa produca in serie masini pe hidrogen

Japonezii de la Honda ofera o alternativa la motorul cu combustie interna si au inceput productia de masini alimentate cu hidrogen. Modelul FCX Clarity are emisii poluante zero iar Honda spune ca e mult mai eficient decat un automobil hibrid sau unul cu clasicul motor cu combustie interna.

Modelul nipon va utiliza curent electric rezultat din combinarea hidrogenului si oxigenului, intr-o celula de combustibil (fuel cell).

Sedan-ul cu patru locuri FCX, spune Honda, va fi nepoluant, deoarece singurele emisii vor fi de vapori de apa, iar gazele responsabile pentru incalzirea globala lipsesc.

Honda spune ca sedanul consuma mai putin decat un hibrid si decat o masina cu clasicul motor cu combustie interna.

Masina va fi disponibila din iulie in sudul Califroniei si apoi in Japonia, spre finalul anului. Planurile nu implica cifre mari. Niponii estimeaza ca intr-un an vor fi pe strazi cateva zeci de masini, iar trei ani cam 200. Utilizatorii FCX vor plati cam 600 de dolari lunar, timp de trei ani.

Avansul tehnologiei celulei de combustibil este serios impiedicat de costurile mari cu productia si de lipsa statiilor unde masinile pe hidrogen pot fi alimentate.

Honda testeaza prototipuri FCX pe hidrogen de aproape un deceniu, iar din 2002 o serie de municipaklitati din SUA au inceput sa le testeze zi de zi.

Printre companiile interesate de tehnologia fuel cell se numara BMW, Daimler, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota si Volkswagen.

Am pierdut fabrica Daimler in favoarea Ungariei

Daimler a decis ca noua fabrica Mercedes sa fie amplasata in apropierea orasului Kecskemet, din centrul Ungariei, unde compania va investi 800 de milioane de euro pentru a putea construi noile generatii ale claselor A si B de la Mercedes-Benz, informeaza Automotive News Europe.

Noua fabrica se va situa la o distanta de circa 80 de kilometri fata de capitala Budapesta, iar prin aceasta investitie vor fi create 2.500 de noi locuri de munca.

"Intentionam sa construim o noua fabrica in Ungaria, pentru a ne creste competitivitatea si pentru a avea acces la potentialul neexploatat al pietelor din estul Europei", a declarat Dieter Zetsche, presedintele executiv al Daimler.

Daimler vrea ca noua fabrica sa produca patru variante aditionale pentru fiecare vehicul premium. Potrivit presei specializate, acestea vor include si o varianta cabrio cu trei usi, un SUV de dimensiuni mai reduse, o varianta cabriolet si un minivan.

Noua fabrica isi va desfasura activitatea in completarea celei din localitatea Rastatt (Germania), acolo unde sunt produse in prezent automobilele din clasele A si B ale Mercedes. Mai mult, Daimler va investi alte 600 de millioane de euro in aceasta fabrica din Germania, potrivit Automotive News Europe.

Grupul Renault va lansa o versiune sportiva de Logan si spera sa obtina patru stele la testele EuroNCAP cu Sandero

Grupul Renault va lansa anul viitor o versiune sport a Logan sedan, cu motor de 133 CP, la fel ca cel de pe Twingo Renault sport, si va decide daca si Sandero va beneficia de acelasi tratament in Romania, a spus pentru Hotnews,ro, Sophie Albertus, director de produs Sandero pe plan mondial. Ea a mai spus ca e de asteptat ca Sandero sa obtina patru stele la testele de siguranta a pasagerilor EuroNCAP, mai mult decat Logan sedan.

Premiera: Un nou motor Renault - 1.4 turbo de 130 cai

Renault a lansat o noua unitate turbo pe benzina de 1.4 litri care dezvolta 130 CP si face parte din familia de motoare TCe.

Renault a prezentat noul propulsor turbo de 1.4 litri cu 16 valve care dezvolta 130 CP/5.500 rpm si un cuplu maxim de 190 Nm disponibil incepand de la 2.250 rpm. Noul TCe 130 se alatura astfel unitatii de 1.2 litri si 100 CP in gama de motoare TCe. Daca propulsorul cu capacitate mica este construit pentru Twingo si Clio, noua unitate de 1.4 litri va asigura motorizarea noii generatii Renault Megane.

Constructorul francez se aliniaza astfel tendintei internationale de a micsora capacitatea cilindrica a noilor motoare dezvoltate care pastreaza sau chiar depasesc puterea vechilor generatii de motoare. In acest sens, Renault se mandreste ca a reusit sa proiecteze un motor care dezvolta aceeasi putere cu o unitate de generatie veche de 1.8 litri, are cuplul maxim asemanator unui motor de 2.0 litri si consumul specific motoarelor de 1.6 litri.

Motorul va fi oferit de Renault pe modelele sale din segmentul C impreuna cu transmisia manuala cu sase viteze. Noua unitate de propulsie va fi construita la uzina din Valladolid, Spania si va respecta normele de poluare Euro5. Propulsorul TCe 130 beneficiaza de noua tehnologie Renault multipunct secventiala pentru tipul de injectie si de aportul substantial al turbinei care ridica performantele motorului incepand de la regimul de turatii mici.

Today Audi officially announced the new 3.0 TFSI engine, a new high-tech V6 combing Audi's latest state-of-the-art technologies � gasoline direct injection and supercharging, which indicates that the �T� in Audi's engine designation can no longer be solely associated with turbocharged versions. The new unit pumps out 290hp (213 kW) and a quite impressive 420Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque.

Thrust of the compact supercharger, which sits inside the 90-degree V of the cylinder banks in place of the intake manifold, is available from idle speeds because it is belt driven, thus, enabling the unit to produce its maximum 420Nm of torque at just 2500rpm.

We can expect to see figures well under 10 liters per 100km (23.52 mpg) although final figures will vary depending on which model it is deployed in.

Audi is yet to confirm which models are likely to get the new 3.0 TFSI unit, but in line with the leaked engine offensive document we expect it to make its debut in the Audi A6 Facelift which will be released later this year and we should also see a tuned version make its way into the new S4 replacing its current 350hp V8 unit.

30.000 de autovehicule Volkswagen, afectate de grindină

O cadere de grindina care a afectat 30.000 de masini la o uzina VW din Germania, a produs pagube care se ridica la 100 de milioane de euro, a afirmat astazi un purtator de cuvant al producatorului german de autoturisme.

Cele 30.000 de masini erau absolut noi si urmau sa fie comercializate, iar unele din ele se aflau in portul din Emden.

Grindina, care se pare ca era cat o minge de tenis, a afectat vopseaua masinilor, insa in majoritatea cazurilor a fost afectata caroseria.

Cei de la VW au aratat ca pagubele nu vor fi suportate de catre companie intrucat masinile erau asigurate impotriva unor astfel de intemperii.

Land Rover ar putea produce un SUV de sapte locuri - 24 Iunie 2008


Land Rover se gandeste sa aduca pe piata un al optulea model din gama sa, necesar pentru a creste numarul de unitati produse la uzina Halewood, raporteaza publicatia Autocar. Este vorba de un SUV de sapte locuri care are la baza platforma modificata a modelului Freelander/LR2 (in imagine). Viitorul vehicul este programat sa apara in 2012.

Noul model va avea un design modern si stilat atat la interior cat si la exterior. Cea mai importanta noutate a sa va fi ampatamentul mai mare si caroseria reproportionata, in vederea obtinerii unui interior propice implementarii unui numar de 7 scaune. Printre cei mai importanti adversari ai sai se afla Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLK, Acura MDX si Honda CRV.

Sub capota SUV-ului de sapte locuri se va afla un propulsor in patru cilindri pe benzina, unul similar diesel, dar si un V6, rezervat initial pentru America de Nord. Cutia de viteze va fi, probabil, Getrag dual-clutch (dublu ambreaj), folosita in prezent de Ford si Volvo. Este posibil ca masina sa aiba si un propusor hibrid.

Citroen va lansa noul monovolum C3 Picasso in Romania, in a doua parte a lui 2009

Francezii de la Citroen vor prezenta in aceasta toamna la Paris monovolumul C3 Picasso si il vor lansa in Romania in a doua parte a anului viitor, au spus pentru Hotnews.ro, reprezentantii companiei. Modelul va fi produs in Slovacia si va dispune de patru versiuni de motorizare.

Masina are 4,08 metri lungime si dispune de doua motoare pe benzina, VTi 95 CP si VTi 120 CP, carora li se alatura doua motoare diesel: HDi 90 si HDi 110 FAP. Nivelul emisiilor de CO2 este mentinut la un nivel scazut : cu motorul HDi 90 poate atinge 125 g/km.

Noul membru al familiei C3 va fi prezentat oficial la urmatorul Salon International Auto de la Paris, urmand a fi comercializat incepand cu primul trimestru al lui 2009 in cele mai mari piete din Europa, unde segmentul monovolum este mai apreciat decat la noi. Momentul lansarii in Romania nu a fost stabilit exact, insa vorbim de a doua parte a anului viitor.

C3 Picasso va fi produs la Trnava in Slovacia, in 93.000 de exemplare la anul si 110.000 in 2010.
